Privacy Policy

Who is responsible for your information?

This notice covers ianmaciver.com, Ian MacIver’s songwriting website, including information about the Maggie Rowan music project. For privacy enquiries, contact Ian at ian@ianmaciver.com.

Information collected and why

If you email Ian or use the contact form, the information you provide may include your name, email address, contact details and message. It is used to respond to enquiries and discuss songwriting, recordings, collaboration or licensing. Providing information is voluntary, but a reply may not be possible without contact details.

The hosting and security services may process technical information such as IP addresses, browser details, requested pages, dates and error logs to deliver the website, prevent abuse and diagnose problems. The site also has a Google tag supplied through Google Site Kit and a CookieYes consent tool; see the Cookie Policy for more information.

Lawful bases

Responding to general enquiries and maintaining a secure website are based on legitimate interests: communicating with people interested in the music and protecting the site. Where an enquiry concerns entering into a contract, processing may be necessary to take steps at your request before that contract. Records may also be kept to meet legal obligations. Consent is the basis for optional tracking where consent is required.

Who receives information?

Service providers supporting website hosting, security, email delivery, forms and technical maintenance may process information as needed to provide those services. The site is hosted with Namecheap and uses WordPress, WPForms, WP Mail SMTP and CookieYes. Google may receive technical and usage information through the Google tag. Information may also be disclosed where required by law or necessary to handle legal claims.

Some providers may process information outside the UK. Applicable transfer arrangements depend on the provider and service. You can contact Ian for details about the providers and transfer safeguards relevant to your information. See Google’s privacy policy for its handling of information.

How long information is kept

Enquiries are retained for as long as needed to deal with the enquiry and any resulting collaboration or agreement. Contract, payment or dispute records may need to be kept longer to meet legal requirements or establish, exercise or defend legal claims. Technical logs and backups are kept according to the operational and security needs of the relevant services. Information is reviewed and removed when no longer needed.

Your rights

Depending on the circumstances, you can request access, correction, deletion, restriction or a portable copy of your personal information. You have the right to object to processing based on legitimate interests. Where processing relies on consent, you can withdraw it at any time without affecting earlier lawful processing. Contact ian@ianmaciver.com to make a request.

You can complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you have concerns about how your information is handled. You may contact Ian first, but you do not have to.
